The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 21-year-old Raymond Sunday over activities connected with cultism and recovered a locally made double-barrel gun in the process.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, in a statement released on Friday, noting that the arrest followed a response by operatives to a reported incident of theft in the community.

According to Jimoh, the suspect, who resides at Owode Camp in Epe, was apprehended on March 2, 2026, around 7:30 p.m.

In the statement, detectives from the Okutanla Division moved to the scene swiftly and took the suspect into custody for further questioning.

During preliminary investigation, the police reportedly recovered a cut-to-size locally made double-barrel gun loaded with pellets, as well as a red beret cap believed to be linked to a cult group.

The command added that investigators also discovered a tattoo mark on the suspect’s chest, suspected to be associated with the cult group, raising further concerns about his possible involvement in cult-related crimes.

Reacting to the issue, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Adebowale Lawal, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to clamp down on cultism and the illegal possession of firearms, while urging residents to support security agencies with credible information to enhance safety across communities.
