Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sworn in the newly appointed chairmen and members of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), and the final member of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Monday, the governor urged the appointees to uphold the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and professionalism. He also emphasized the need to embrace innovation and partner with communities, civil society, and the private sector to achieve their goals.

The TESCOM members sworn in include Mrs. Mopelola Peregrino (Chairman), Mrs. Kafayat Ajenifuja, Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye, Hon. Segun Agbaje, and Mrs. Abimbola Idowu. Prince Adewale Ojora was sworn in as a member of LASIEC. For LASERC, the members are Engr. Abimbola Odubiyi (Chairman), Mr. Tunde Gbajumo, Dr. Fouad Animasahun, Barr. Kofoworola Olokun-Olawoyin, and Engr. Oluwaseun Fadare.

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of LASERC’s establishment following the passage of the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 and the state’s regulatory independence from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. He described the development as a historic milestone for energy governance in Lagos.

He noted that LASERC will regulate tariffs, enforce standards, encourage renewable energy, reduce electricity theft, and expand power access to underserved communities. He also mentioned plans to restructure electricity distribution companies for improved service delivery within the state.

On LASIEC, the governor stressed the importance of fairness and stakeholder engagement as the state prepares for the July 12 local government elections, emphasizing the commission’s role in maintaining public trust and democratic integrity.

Sanwo-Olu reassured Lagosians of his administration’s commitment to equipping the appointees with the necessary tools to deliver effectively, encouraging citizens to actively participate in governance, education, and energy reforms.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, called on the appointees to see their positions as a call to serve with dedication and loyalty. He said the appointments reflect the governor’s commitment to transparency and advancing reforms, particularly in the power sector.
