By Boye Oyeyemi –
A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded a 27-year-old man, Àdebayo Tomiwa, at the correctional centre in the state capital over an alleged murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant was reasonably suspected of committing the offence within the Omuo-Ekiti Magisterial District.
He said the alleged crime was contrary to and punishable under Section 234 of the Ekiti State Criminal Laws, 2021.
Oriyomi urged the court to remand the suspect for 30 days to enable the police to obtain legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The defendant, who was represented by Barrister O. G. Abiola, did not have his plea taken during the proceedings.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the prosecution’s request and ordered the remand of the defendant.
The court adjourned the case until January 19, 2026, for further mention.
