An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has restrained Oluwakemi Alao-Akala from selling or disposing of properties belonging to the late former Governor, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, pending the determination of a substantive suit.
The court during the week issued the order following a motion on notice for interlocutory injunction filed by Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto in Suit No. 1/443/2024, seeking judicial intervention in the administration of the deceased’s estate.
Joined as defendants in the suit are Oluwakemi Alao-Akala and Olamide Alabi, both listed as executors and administrators of the estate.
In its ruling, the court restrained the defendants, their agents, or any person acting on their behalf from selling, continuing to sell, or entering into joint venture agreements involving any of the late politician’s properties.
Responding to the development, the claimant told the court that she holds both legal and equitable interests in the estate as the first daughter of the deceased, alleging that some properties had already been sold without her consent, while others were being prepared for sale or joint venture arrangements.
However, the court held its ruling while also ordering an accelerated hearing of the case. In addition, an application seeking DNA tests among siblings involved in the dispute was adjourned to April 16, 2026.
