Amosun/Gbenga Daniel face-off In 2005: What really happened that day, by Alli Abiodun

OGD was the culprit in that matter that time and never Ibikunle Amosun. I was directly involved.
I was One of two heads of DSS security teams that were securing Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
I headed one team and it was my team shift for that day.
There was already crisis between Amosun and Daniel over the refusal of Daniel to fulfil the Promise and agreement they reached in 2003 that…Ogd would do one term and power handed over to Amosun.
Daniel and Amosun were very good friends prior to that time.
Amosun and Bàbá Sule Onabiyi in Ifọ and Sarafa Tunji Isola in Abeokuta and others led the charge for the ogd success in Ogun Central with Amosun a major instrumental force.
Amosun popularly called SIA equally won the Ogun Central Senatorial election defeating the AD Dr.Okunronmu.
Late Jubril Martins Kuye in Ago-Iwoye led the charge in Ogun East. Ogd prior to the 2003 Election had no structure of his own. He used the aggregation of well established political actors structures.
When ogd tasted power and discovered how sweet.
He reneged on the agreement and insisted on going for 2nd term.
This angered Amosun so much and decided to go against Ogd in the 2007 election. That particular morning. Amosun had a rally with his supporters at Ake arcade in Abeokuta.
There was massive crowd moving to that venue and significant part was moving through the main road Infront of Government house.
This discomfited Ogd and he placed a call to the Commissioner of Police then to block off the road.
The police boss counselled the Gov that he should let them pass as they were not throwing stones Into the Govt house or passing invectives on his person.
Besides, that was a major artery road in Abeokuta and blocking it would cause chaos.
Not satisfied.Ogd said…guys let’s go.All stations emborsed…the convoy moved.Instead to face Okemosan route …ADC radioed we should move towards Ake that was not in anyway linked to the Okemosan Governor’s office.
We now activated every vehicle siren in that convoy, making defeaning noise and were following the Amosun crowd. There was heavy tension in the air
The CSO promptly alerted the Ogun DSS
Headquarters of Gov.Gbenga Daniel commencement of precipitating crises.
By the time we got to a place called Oke-Itoku.
We saw large crowd surging back towards us led by Amosun himself without his cap with his supporters waving all manners of charms and ayẹta(anti bullet hit charm) over his head. They were charging towards our convoy singing…Gbenga Daniel… Amosun tipa lẹyin ẹ..and all that.
Being the Security Body Guard team Leader.
I was already on ground beside the Governor’s car bodily covering his side.I then mobilized my automatic pistol. Moved forward to the Amosun led crowd.
I warned….Mr.Ibikunle Amosun…stop there…should you move an inch further…I would open fire on and kill you. I was face to face with Amosun. He was looking at me …saying hẹn…hẹn.. mockingly. I then started releasing warning gun fire shots.
When they remained adamant.I asked for the mini-Uzi automatic Israeli Military made SMG to be passed to me from one of my team member holding it.
I mobilized and put it into rapid shooting ready to spray all of them.
Meanwhile all the press men were nowhere to be found. The Daniel private body guards were so afraid and were holed up in their vehicle waiting for escalation of the confrontation to pick race.
Talo njẹ omọ aperin níwájú ọmọ apaayan!
My CSO started to plead with me.
Alli please hold your fire!…please don’t shoot.
At this time. The police mobile force team had started to shoot into the air. Then there was massive release of tear gas.And the crowd retreated. Amosun already moved away.
We then started moving. Most of the crowd were already in the houses along the road throwing stones…and as we moved…we were shooting into the direction the stones were being thrown. When we got to the front of St Peters church at Ake. The Amosun people had lined the road to Ake arcade with charms and dared us to cross it with our vehicles if we would not all die.
We then decided to move towards Itoku ..journeyed the likes of…irin ajo ọmọ Israẹli..and went back to Government house at Oke Igbein.
You would ask…where was the Governor himself in all of this?
You won’t believe the Governor was never in the convoy from the Government house.
When firing subsided..I peeped into the Governor staff car…he was not there….I checked the boot…nowhere to be found.
We later realized that as we were running to enter our various security SUVs…the man surreptitiously disengaged from the vehicle.
Only the ADC and his police orderlie knew he had ran back into the house when we were moving.
His objective was to have some of us killed and wounded by Amosun men and thereafter made a political capital, clout, statement and sympathy therefrom.
Later my Office said …I should replace all the bullets I expended. The bullets I expended to secure my own life from a surging dangerous Amosun men who were already so tensed up and blowing all manners of charm powdering substances towards me making incantations. If not for God’s gift of divine power in me…all their charms would have had devastating effect on me. It was because I was a Man in the spirit.
I am still. And God had my back and still very much now.
I was severely vexed. I said..so the bullets were more valuable than my life? I immediately wrote a resignation letter and promptly submitted it.
I was invited and after all their braggadocio failed, they started pleading with me ..they promised promotion, invited my Wife and asked her to bring then my International passport so that I may not travel…and all that. I remained adamant and left the Country…that ended the chapter.
Gbenga Daniel killed the story and the truth from coming out by bribing the press crew with huge sum of cash. That time, there was prevalent of “kill press”… it’s bribing the press from making news of an uncomfortable events and suppress it.
There was only print and electronic media that time.
The social media was just adventing with Facebook and never well spread at all. I myself was only able to join Facebook in 2006 while at Pretoria in South Africa.
I will continue to share with the public my experiences in the course of my duty as an Intelligence officer.
So many to be shared.
I remain Alli Sulaiman Abiodun.
