Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has heaped praise on former Lagos State governor and minister, Babatunde Raji Fashola, while reflecting on a dark period in her life.
In a recent exposé, the Checkmate and Fuji House of Commotion star recalled how she battled a serious kidney illness and how the Lagos State Government, under Fashola’s leadership, came to her aid before anyone else.
Nwosu recounted that it was through a woman named Funke that she was connected to Fashola, noting that once he was informed of her condition, he acted swiftly to provide both financial and medical support.
According to her, Fashola’s prompt intervention gave her access to critical care at a time when her situation was dire.
“During the kidney issue, actually, it was Lagos State that stood there for me,” Nwosu said. “I want to use this opportunity to thank Funke, who facilitated my meeting with the governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola. They were the ones who came to my rescue before the Igbos even tried. Thank you to Pius Anyim Pius, who was at the Senate then.”
Her remarks shed light on the behind-the-scenes efforts that kept her alive when misinformation about her health was widespread in the media.
The veteran actress also clarified that contrary to unverified reports that she was abandoned, help came swiftly from Lagos when she needed it most.
“Governor Fashola did not only send money; he ensured everything needed for my treatment was provided. I was shocked because I had never even met him before then,” she added.
