JUST IN: Tinubu hails APC primary process, says internal democracy working

President Bola Tinubu has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary as peaceful, organised, and a reflection of grassroots democracy.
Tinubu spoke with journalists on Saturday after participating in the primary election at Ward E, Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to the President, the process allowed every member of the party to participate, strengthening internal democracy within the APC.
“This is politics, grassroots politics where every member of the party has the right to participate. This is to ensure that we have an internal democracy. And it is peaceful and well organised,” he said.
Speaking on the conduct of the primaries across the country, Tinubu commended APC governors and party officials for overseeing a credible process from ward congresses to delegate accreditation and validation.
“I’m very satisfied. These governors have done well in their various states — from ward congresses and local government congresses to delegate accreditation, validation, members’ register, and certification of the electoral processes. It has been done very well. At least you will score democracy at a high level,” the President stated.
Tinubu also welcomed political competition within the party, saying challenges from supporters and opponents would strengthen his leadership.
“To those who support me, I am very excited that they challenge me more,” he added.
