NDC’s David-Adesua condemns attack on ADC campaign office in Ekiti

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency, Ayodele David-Adesua, has condemned the reported vandalisation of the campaign office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Funso Ayeni, in Ido-Ekiti.

David-Adesua, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, described the incident as disturbing and expressed solidarity with Ayeni and other members of the ADC in the state.

The campaign office, which was inaugurated on Thursday, was reportedly vandalised by unknown persons. The incident prompted Ayeni to call on security and law enforcement agencies to investigate the attack and establish the circumstances surrounding the damage.

Reacting to the incident, David-Adesua urged the relevant security authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, stressing that anyone found responsible should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He also appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and youths across Ekiti North to shun violence and allow political activities to take place without intimidation, harassment or destruction of property.

According to him, the 2027 elections should focus on competing ideas, policies and programmes rather than attacks on political opponents or their property. He urged candidates to direct their campaigns towards issues affecting residents, including employment, security, education, agriculture and infrastructure.

David-Adesua further stressed that political differences should not turn contestants into enemies, urging political actors and their supporters to respect one another and resolve disagreements through lawful and democratic means.

He said tolerance should remain the guiding principle before, during and after the elections, noting that political contests would eventually end while the people of Ekiti North would continue to live together as neighbours and members of the same community.
