Ndume rates Tinubu leadership style above Buhari’s

Senator Ali Ndume, the chief whip of the senate, has expressed his views on the leadership styles of former President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Bola Tinubu.

In a recent appearance on the television program “Politics Today” on Channels Television, Ndume criticized Buhari’s passive approach during his presidency, suggesting that it allowed kleptocrats to dominate his administration.

Ndume, who represents Borno south, contrasted this with Tinubu’s proactive governance, stating, “The president is in charge,” and emphasizing Tinubu’s assertiveness by saying, “But he takes charge unlike our former president, [who] will just give you an assignment and he would not look over you.”

Reflecting on Buhari’s tenure, Ndume shared that the former president acknowledged the presence of corrupt individuals within his government after his term ended. “That was the mistake President Buhari made. He ended up confessing that he had more kleptocrats in his government than people who had interest at heart,” Ndume remarked.

Ndume also highlighted an incident where Tinubu reprimanded his son during a council meeting, illustrating his hands-on leadership style. “But in Tinubu’s government, you can’t do that. You can see what he did to his son during a council meeting. Tinubu truly told him off. If it were another person it would be through behind,” he explained.

Concluding his comments, Ndume expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future under Tinubu’s leadership and appealed to the citizens, saying, “I think we are going to have it better with Tinubu. All I’m begging Nigerians is to give him a chance.” The senator’s remarks shed light on the differing leadership dynamics within Nigeria’s political landscape and the expectations set for the current administration.
