Osun APC berates Adeleke govt over repainted security vehicles

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration for presenting the repainting of 11 inherited Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) as a notable achievement.
In a statement on Tuesday, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, mocked the state government’s unveiling of the repainted vehicles, claiming they were originally purchased by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, maintained by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, and left to deteriorate under Adeleke’s watch since his assumption of office over two years ago.
The party also questioned the rationale behind inscribing Governor Adeleke’s name on the security vehicles, accusing the administration of seeking unearned credit for merely refurbishing public assets.
“We were not surprised by this act, as the Adeleke government has shown a pattern of repackaging projects from past administrations for unmerited glory,” the statement read.
The APC alleged that a similar situation occurred recently when the state government repainted three inherited fire trucks and falsely claimed they were newly acquired. According to the party, the trucks were seen being refurbished at a workshop near Abidogun in Ota-Efun, Osogbo.
The opposition further accused the government of falsely claiming credit for the near-completed Osogbo-Ikirun Road project during its 100-day celebration in office, asserting that only the final asphalt layer was outstanding when the previous administration left office.
“It is also public knowledge that the Adeleke administration removed plaques bearing the names of past administrations from rehabilitated Primary Healthcare Centres and replaced them with its own branding,” the party alleged.
The APC also cited the Ring Road project in Osogbo, claiming Adeleke’s government wrongly took credit for the road despite substantial work already having been completed under his predecessor.
