The Secretary to the Government of Osun State, Teslim Igbalaye, has presented a N15 million cooperative grant to each ward in the Osogbo Local Government Area.

Igbalaye also distributed 45 Point of Sales (POS) machines with a startup cash of N25,000 each. In addition, 37 individuals who were trained in makeup, gele, manicure, and pedicure received certificates and equipment.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Imole Bibiire empowerment training programme, Igbalaye announced the completion of several community projects: a hand pump borehole in Ward 10, a motorised borehole in Ward 8, a public toilet in Ward 7, and the registration of 500 aged individuals in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).

Igbalaye assured that the programme will continue every four months to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots level. He stated, “We embarked on this initiative with a singular vision: to equip our people with the skills and resources necessary to carve out better futures for themselves and their families.

“During the past two weeks, participants have immersed themselves in the art of makeup, gele making, manicure, and pedicure. These skills are not just about aesthetics; they represent avenues of economic independence and self-sufficiency. As we distribute certificates and equipment today, we are not merely handing out tools; we are unlocking doors of opportunity and igniting flames of potential.

“To all our trainees, I commend you for your dedication and perseverance. Remember, these certificates and equipment symbolize not just your achievements, but your potential to thrive and excel in your chosen endeavors. Seize every opportunity that comes your way, and let your success be a testament to the transformative power of empowerment.”

A beneficiary, Agboola Dare, speaking on behalf of others, said the empowerment scheme would provide a means of livelihood for them and their families. He appreciated the SSG for not just paying for their training but also providing them with working tools and startup grants.
