Oyebanji charges religious leaders to promote values of integrity, hard work, peaceful coexistence

The governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji has urged religious leaders to use the pulpit to promote values of integrity, hard work, and peaceful coexistence, saying those values are essential principles for national renewal.
Oyebanji, in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, said he made the remarks while declaring open the 2025 Annual Conference of Presidents of the Nigerian Baptist Convention retreat at the Abiyami Esther Oyebanji Event Centre, Ikogosi, in Ekiti.

The governor also called on the church to take the lead in confronting the rise of corruption, illicit wealth, and the get-rich-quick syndrome that continues to erode the society’s moral foundation.
He wrote ” It was an honour to declare open the 2025 annual Conference of Presidents of the Nigerian Baptist Convention retreat at the Abiyamo Esther Oyebanji Event Centre in Ikogosi, a town with deep historical and spiritual ties to the Baptist mission.

“In declaring the retreat open, I called on the Church to take the lead in confronting the disturbing rise of corruption, illicit wealth, and the get-rich-quick syndrome that continues to erode our moral foundation.
“I urged our spiritual leaders to use the pulpit to promote values of integrity, hard work, and peaceful coexistence, which are essential principles for national renewal.

“I also used the occasion to express our appreciation to the Baptist Mission for its foundational role in the development of Ikogosi, especially through the early efforts of Rev. John Dimagi, who discovered the iconic warm spring in 1952.
“The presence of the Church has transformed lives in this community and continues to serve as a pillar of progress and hope”.
He reiterated his commitment to ethical leadership and accountable governance, saying ” With the support and prayers of the Church, I am confident we can build a more just, secure, and prosperous Ekiti and Nigeria”.
