Tinubu celebrates journalist Babajide Kolade-Otitoju at 60

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated veteran journalist and broadcaster Babajide Kolade-Otitoju on the occasion of his 60th birthday, praising his contributions to journalism and national development.

In a tribute issued on Saturday, the President described Kolade-Otitoju as a courageous and professional journalist known for his commitment to truth, integrity, and citizen-focused reporting.

Tinubu commended the multiple award-winning investigative journalist for consistently speaking truth to power and upholding high ethical standards throughout his career.

“Babajide Otitoju stands out as a journalist of great reckoning and distinction. He speaks truth to power without caring whose ox is gored,” the President said.

The President also noted Kolade-Otitoju’s vast experience across different sectors of journalism and his ability to provide informed analysis on national issues.

“What is also particularly remarkable about him is his vast journalism experience and knowledge across diverse disciplines, sectors, regions and cultures,” Tinubu added.

Kolade-Otitoju began his journalism career with The Democrat newspaper in Kaduna between 1991 and 1992 before joining TheNEWS Group as a pioneer staff member in 1993, where he worked as Kano State correspondent.

During his early career, he gained recognition for his courageous reporting, including coverage of sensitive religious-related violence despite threats.
