2027: Kwankwaso to join ADC in major political shift

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has officially announced that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will be joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The decision, disclosed in a press statement, will see Kwankwaso formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, at 12 p.m.

The announcement has stirred reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, as the movement called on its members nationwide to immediately register with the ADC at their respective ward, local government, and state levels.

Spokesperson of the movement, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the move was driven by a commitment to advancing democratic values and promoting good governance.

“We have always been committed to the betterment of our state and the nation at large.

This strategic decision is aimed at strengthening democratic principles and promoting inclusive leadership that reflects the will and aspirations of the people,” he said.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, which enjoys strong support particularly in Kano State, has long been associated with Kwankwaso’s political influence, and his defection signals a notable shift in Nigeria’s political dynamics.

Dr. Mohammed further emphasized that the decision reflects the collective interest of the people, urging members not only to register with the ADC but also to actively participate in party activities and contribute to its growth at all levels.

He reaffirmed the unity and resolve of the movement, stating that it remains committed to building a more inclusive, people-oriented Nigeria.
