NOA commends Kwara for erecting tallest flagpole in West Africa

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has applauded the Kwara State Government for erecting what is now the tallest flagpole in West Africa—a towering 70-meter structure that stands as a symbol of national pride, cultural identity, and economic potential.
Speaking on the development, the Director General of the NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, praised the initiative as a significant contribution to the nation’s unity and patriotic spirit. He emphasized that as the custodian of national symbols, the NOA recognizes the powerful message the flagpole conveys.
“The flag that flies high represents not only the sovereignty of Nigeria but also the collective spirit and unity of the diverse groups that call Kwara home,” Onilu stated.
He described the structure as more than a physical installation, saying it serves as a landmark that inspires citizens to celebrate their heritage while fostering national cohesion.
“As the agency responsible for promoting national values and orientation, we appreciate the Kwara State Government’s efforts in creating a landmark that showcases our nation’s rich cultural heritage and promotes socioeconomic development,” he added.
Onilu further noted the cultural and economic significance of the flagpole, highlighting its potential to attract tourism, investment, and development opportunities to the state. “It is a cultural yardstick, reflecting the nation’s dynamic spirit and harmonious blend of ethnic diversity,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming NOA’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s cultural values and national unity. “Together, we can create a brighter future for our citizens and showcase the best of Nigeria’s cultural heritage to the world,” he said.
