Osun govt challenges Omirin to substantiate alleged N12bn payment claim
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State Government has challenged the member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanya Omirin, to provide credible evidence for his claim that he facilitated the payment of N12 billion by the Federal Government to Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the allegation as false and misleading.
The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said in a statement made available to Western Post that Omirin should explain what the alleged N12 billion was meant for, the official capacity in which he facilitated it and the legal or constitutional basis for such a transaction.
“Making sensational claims without evidence may serve political propaganda, but it does not constitute truth. Public discourse should be guided by facts, responsibility and respect for the intelligence of the people,” Rasheed said.
He also dismissed Omirin’s claim that the Adeleke administration had failed to deliver meaningful development in Atakunmosa East Local Government, saying the government had executed projects in education, healthcare, road infrastructure and water supply across the area.
According to him, the administration constructed and renovated classrooms, rehabilitated and equipped primary healthcare centres, executed major roads through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and provided boreholes across the 10 wards of the local government.
Rasheed further expressed concern over comments allegedly made by Omirin suggesting the possible use of violence during future elections and called on security agencies to monitor political actors and prevent actions capable of threatening the peace of Osun State.
He added that the Adeleke administration remained committed to issue-based politics, peaceful democratic engagement and the continued delivery of developmental projects across the state.
