Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport marks International HR Day, celebrates staff excellence

The management and staff of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, have joined the global community to commemorate the 2026 International Human Resources Day with a vibrant event aimed at promoting professionalism, discipline and workplace excellence.

The celebration, held at the airport’s Fire Bay, was led by the Head of Department, Human Resources, Mrs Ike Josephine Ego, alongside members of the HR department.

Speaking at the event, organisers highlighted the critical role of human resources in enhancing productivity, efficiency and a positive workplace culture within the aviation sector. They noted that this year’s theme, “Empower People to Lead Change,” underscored the importance of employees in institutional growth and transformation.

The interactive session featured discussions on punctuality, motivation, discipline, dedication to duty and teamwork, with staff members actively participating and sharing experiences.

As part of the programme, an award of recognition was presented to the airport’s most punctual staff member, Alhaji Isiaka Tijani, in appreciation of his consistency, commitment and exemplary work ethic. His recognition was met with applause from colleagues.

The event also provided an opportunity for networking and light refreshments, further strengthening unity and cooperation among staff members.

Participants described the gathering as engaging and impactful, noting that it reinforced the importance of collaboration and professionalism within the airport community.
