Adeleke declares 2026 Osun’s year of victory, urges electoral vigilance

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described 2026 as a year of victory and prosperity for the state, urging residents to embrace electoral vigilance and active participation as Osun prepares for the governorship election.

In a New Year message signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke congratulated the people of Osun on the arrival of 2026, praising God for the achievements recorded in 2025 and expressing optimism for a more prosperous year ahead.

The governor described 2025 as a challenging year for the state due to what he termed externally induced constraints, but expressed confidence that 2026 would mark liberation from obstacles hindering the delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.

He called on residents to pray for a successful and hitch-free electoral process, urging them to seek divine intervention against what he described as evil plots by dark forces intent on plunging the state into chaos.

According to Adeleke, 2026 is a defining moment for Osun as an election year, stressing that elections are not wars but an exercise of the people’s sovereignty in a democratic system where citizens freely choose their leaders.

“Election is not war; it is the exercise of sovereignty by the people. This is a democracy where people reserve the right to vote for leaders of their choice. Any attempt to deny the people their right to vote amounts to undermining the democratic life of the state.”

The governor said the people would use their votes to punish those behind the alleged illegal seizure of Osun funds, insisting that there is no shortcut to power in a true democracy, as votes and voices remain the only legitimate channels.

Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to delivering services and democratic dividends, calling on residents to defend their constitutional rights and assuring them of his determination to lead the state to victory in the August 2026 governorship election.
