Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been named Nigeria’s Ambassador for the Rule of Law, a recognition Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, says positions him as a visionary leader in advancing justice, collaboration, and legal integrity nationwide.

Ajulo made the remarks on Thursday during the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Akure Branch Dinner and Gala Night, where the governor received the prestigious honour at the close of the association’s Law Week.

Describing the title as more than ceremonial, Ajulo said it elevates Aiyedatiwa to a role that demands leadership and inspiration. “He is expected to serve not only as a custodian of the law but also as a visionary leader who inspires collaboration among legal professionals, policymakers, and civil society,” he noted.

Ajulo added that the role carries significant responsibilities, including influencing justice-sector reforms, promoting legal integrity, and fostering a culture where citizens understand and defend their rights. “His responsibilities extend beyond governance; he embodies the essence of justice, motivating others to uphold legal integrity in their everyday actions,” he said.

The Attorney General highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s achievements in supporting judicial independence and improving the welfare of legal institutions in Ondo State, emphasizing that his reforms and steadfast commitment to fairness make the recognition well-deserved.

He also noted the broader implications of the honour, saying it could inspire stronger accountability systems, better legal frameworks, and increased public engagement in governance. “The title enhances Ondo State’s reputation nationally and internationally as a centre of legal excellence,” Ajulo added.

Ajulo further commended the NBA Akure branch for celebrating distinguished Nigerians, including Senator Bode Olajumoke, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, and 91-year-old journalism icon Sam Amuka-Pemu, whom he described as “a Friend of Ondo State,” praising the association for spotlighting individuals who strengthen public discourse and democratic values.
