Ekiti 2026: PDP to appeal court ruling, backs Oluyede’s candidacy — Ogunsakin

By Boye Oyeyemi –

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Deji Ogunsakin, has reaffirmed the party’s support for its governorship candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, despite his omission from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) list.

Ogunsakin said the development should not cause panic, insisting that Oluyede remains the authentic candidate of the PDP for the 2026 governorship election.

He disclosed that the party would challenge the recent High Court ruling, expressing confidence that the PDP would secure legal redress.

According to him, the party’s primary that produced Oluyede was peaceful, credible and one of the most transparent exercises conducted in the state in recent years.

Ogunsakin alleged that the unfolding situation was part of a calculated attempt to edge Ekiti State towards a one-party system by weakening opposition parties.

He warned that any decision by INEC to stop monitoring PDP primaries would amount to denying the party its constitutional right to present candidates.

The PDP stakeholder called on party members in Ekiti, across the country and in the diaspora to remain calm, assuring them that the party would overcome the challenge and remain competitive in the race.
