Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has commended President Bola Tinubu for initiating significant strides toward national progress and prosperity.

In a recent statement, Dare emphasized that protests and unrest would only hinder the country’s advancement and urged Nigerians to support the government in consolidating its achievements.

“The Tinubu-led administration is sowing seeds that will bear fruits in time. We need to give the President the benefit of time,” Dare said. He appealed to Nigerians to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more time to consolidate the substantial gains made in the past year, highlighting several notable achievements under the current administration.

Dare pointed out key accomplishments, such as the NELFUND’s support for children’s education, which he described as “succor for both parents and their children.” He praised the Consumer Credit scheme, the first of its kind, as a significant booster to purchasing power and the overall economy. In addition, he noted the increase in the minimum wage to ₦70,000, providing much-needed financial relief to workers across the country.

“The massive distribution of rice and grains ordered by President Tinubu and many key initiatives under the Economic Sustainability Plan are commendable,” Dare added. He also highlighted the recent Supreme Court judgment granting autonomy to local governments, championed by the Tinubu administration, as a revolutionary step capable of bringing much-needed development to the grassroots. This change, he noted, allows for more efficient and responsive governance at the local level, empowering authorities to address the specific needs of their communities.

Dare mentioned the launch of the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, which offers microbusinesses ₦50,000, describing it as an essential support system for small-scale business owners. He also noted the government’s allocation of ₦10 billion for constructing over 200 CNG conversion centers and CNG buses in all 36 states.

According to Dare, Nigeria’s external reserves have risen to a 17-month high, demonstrating the nation’s economic resilience and progress toward further growth. He predicted that conditions would improve for the populace and that a complete turnaround would occur soon.
