Shina Peller dumps PDP for APM over internal issues

A former federal lawmaker at the House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party and joined the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Peller officially announced his defection on Thursday at the APM State Secretariat in Ibadan, where he was received by supporters and party leaders.

His Chief Press Secretary, Kola Popoola, said the decision was influenced by the leadership crisis and legal challenges facing the PDP, including the nullification of the Ibadan convention that produced Taminu Turaki as national chairman.

According to Popoola, Peller moved to the APM to protect his political ambition and avoid possible post-election legal disputes linked to internal issues within the PDP.

He added that Peller’s 2027 senatorial ambition for Oyo North would focus on youth empowerment, digital economy reforms, grassroots inclusion and economic development.

In light of this development, party supporters at the APM secretariat described the ex-lawmaker’s arrival as a major boost to the party ahead of the 2027 elections in Oyo State.
