Osun Election: APC can secure 10m South-West votes for Tinubu in 2027 — Bamidele

…..urges Oyebamiji to congratulate Adeleke
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to leverage the outcome of the Osun State governorship election to strengthen its structures and mobilise at least 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu across the South-West in the 2027 presidential election.
Bamidele, who is also chairman of the National Assembly South-West Caucus, made the call in a statement on Monday following the re-election of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes. Najeem Salam of the African Democratic Congress came third with 17,180 votes.
The senate leader said the election reaffirmed the power of voters in a democracy and urged all candidates to accept the result.
He also called on Adeleke to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents and work towards uniting the state.
“The decision of the majority does not only confirm the re-election of Governor Adeleke. It equally places the burden of victory on the elected candidate,” Bamidele said.
“This burden requires him to come up with clearly defined post-election measures that will effectively first reunite the state’s indigenes and residents across all the political divides.”
Bamidele urged Adeleke to look beyond the political platform that sponsored his candidacy and engage other contestants and parties in building an inclusive administration.
He also appealed to Oyebamiji to congratulate the governor-elect and share policy ideas that could contribute to better governance in Osun.
