JUST IN: Ondo SDP faces vacuum as publicity secretary resigns

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State, Oyeniyi Iwakun, has resigned from the party.

Iwakun announced his decision in a resignation letter dated December 31, 2025, addressed to the chairman of the party in Aye Ward 2.

The former spokesperson did not disclose the reason for his exit but said the decision was taken in good faith and with respect for the party’s leadership and members.

In the letter, Iwakun expressed appreciation to the SDP for giving him the opportunity to serve, noting that he contributed to the party’s growth during his tenure.

He also thanked party leaders and members for the cooperation and goodwill extended to him while he held the position.

Copies of the resignation letter were sent to key party officials at the state and national levels, including the acting state secretary, state chairman, national secretary and national chairman.

Western Post reports that Iwakun’s departure creates a vacuum in the party’s communication structure in Ondo State, as the SDP leadership had yet to react to the development as of press time.
